How do I sign up as a supplier or buyer?
Just click on the “Register here” button on the home page. There is a short registration form that will need to be completed so we have all of the correct information and as we operate a trade only we portal we do check to make sure all those applying to use the site are trade customers.


How do I start to sell my unwanted stock?
You'll need to sign up as a seller (no charge) in which you agree to the general terms and conditions about how quickly and by what method goods will be shipped. You'll then be able to list your stock. It is imperative that you include any shipping costs within the price you list at,as there are no separate carriage charges added. This means it may be better to list your products in "lots" of say 10 units, and include the cost of delivering each "lot" of 10 units with the price you are prepared to sell that "lot" at.
 

How do I know someone has ordered the stock I have to sell?
As soon as someone places an order for the stock you have, you will receive an order placed email to the email address you have specified, so you'll need to check this daily as it is imperative goods are shipped within 24 hours as per the agreement.
 

How and when do I get paid for the stock that has been bought?
Within 24 hours of the buyer receiving the goods they will confirm safe receipt of goods as advertised. We will then ask you via email to invoice us for the sale value less the 15% commission we charge. We do two payment runs per month and will pay you on the next payment run so you never have to wait more than two weeks.


How do I upload the products I have for sale?
Don’t worry we’ve made this easy – after registering and being approved you’ll be able to log in and follow the step by step instructions – and we are always here to help.

Who can buy from thetradelink.com?
We offer a platform for the trade only, it is not available to the public. All buyers and sellers must be from a bona fide business within the electrical industry.

How are goods shipped?
Goods are shipped by courier or by registered post depending upon size and weight (you will know which at the time of ordering) to the address you provide.


How do I know the seller has received my order?
As soon as you purchase an item or items we are instantly notified of the transaction(s) and ask the seller(s) to confirm they have received the order.All orders will be shipped by the seller(s) within 24-48 hours (part of the sellers agreement) and as soon as we have had confirmation that the goods have left the seller we will advise you accordingly.


How quickly will I receive my order?
The Trade Link and our sellers expect all deliveries to arrive to you within 2-5 days excluding weekends, bank holidays and if stated otherwise.
 

Why are there no delivery charges?

Sellers incorporate the cost of delivery into the price the goods are listed at. This is why, for example, you will often see items listed in "lots" of 10 pieces. When you buy 1 item you are buying 1 "lot" of 10 pieces and the seller has spread the cost of delivery across those 10 items. This is by far the fairest method as some items are small needing registered post and others large requiring palletised deliveries.


Why do I sometimes receive my order in multiple deliveries?

Again if you are buying numerous different items from multiple sellers they will send out their part of your order and it's often the case they use different couriers or maybe registered post.


How can I pay?
You can pay using all major credit and debit cards (except American Express) as well as Paypal.

What if I forget my password?
If you do don’t worry – just click on the "Forgotten Password" link on the Login screen and follow the instructions that will be emailed to you.
 

For buyers


Can I collect my goods?
We currently are unable to offer collection unless specified on the individual product page.
 
VAT
All the prices shown on the website are excluding VAT.


What if I am not VAT registered?
This is not a problem as you effectively sell the goods to us and we sell on to the buyer and we are VAT registered. However when you purchase goods from our portal VAT has to be added to the buy price and if you are not VAT registered you cannot claim that back. What if the goods don’t arrive or they do and they are broken?
We do not release payment to the seller until we have had confirmation from the buyer that the goods have arrived safely in the condition expected. If there is any problem simply advise us via the “contact us" page and we will look into each incident separately to ensure correct trading terms are adhered to. It is extremely helpful that if broken/damaged goods have arrived it is reported within 24 hours and ideally you take a photograph of the item(s) damaged as the seller is likely to need this to make a claim against his courier.
